Arts in Action Theatre Series
“A Change Has Come”

2017 Arts series will feature entertainment for the soul!  Our series begins with a concert to feature covers from revolutionary artists mixed with contemporary songs that speaks of  tumultuous times and how we must get over. JPEK continues to examine this conception through musical theatre exursions.  And of course there’s our Children’s theatre project, a story of a young girl who finds a greater strength in self through her eager pursuit for happiness.   To finish the year, we end the season with Real Life, a two-act hip hopera that explores the attitudes of city living.  Centralizing main character Ray, who is in fight for self or street, we travel a transformational story of hope and faith.  If change is to come, then we have to get better.

Fascinating and dramatically compelling, this eloquent play depicts the supposed meeting of two of the most important men of modern time: Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Differing in their philosophies, but alike in their mutual respect, the two men debate their varying approaches to the same grave social problems.
